All about our website!

First Assembly of God

Why should you visit our website and other web information.

gcfirst.org: You often hear the staff of GCFirst talk about the website or our newsletters and you may wonder why. You even get this newsletter and see us encouraging you to check things out on the web but you aren't really sure about the whole "internet thing".
We are going to take this opportunity to get you acquainted with our site and help you understand why we feel so strongly about being a part of it.

First, for those who may not realize, when you see a word that is a different color than all the other words here, it is probably a link to a site giving you more information about the topic. Since we are talking about our website, let's take a look at it here! You can roll your mouse right over the blue "here" and click on it and it will open another window with our website's homepage for your viewing pleasure! You can also click on the GCFirst logo at the top of this newsletter to see our website.
On our homepage, you will find tabs that lead you to the specific ministries our church offers, information about pastoral staff, our church calendar, info about who we are as an Assemblies of God church (our doctrine), a blurb about the current events, an opportunity to sign up for our newsletter and titles of recent blogs posted by any of our ministry leaders.
Place your cursor over the word "DISCOVER" at the top of the webpage and a list appears. This list is a tool for vistors to the site to learn about us.
"What To Expect"– here readers will be given information about our location, building and service schedule.
"What We Believe"- a condensed list of our 16 Fundamental Truths.
"Who We Are"-  a brief description of who we are as a church.
"Where We Come From"- read all about our history, as a fellowship and a church.

Now, move your cursor over the word "CONNECT". This list is very informative both for the visitor, seeking a place to attend and belong, and for the current attendees of GCFirst.
"Prayer Requests"- Have a need? We would love to lift you up in prayer! Here you can send a prayer request to the staff for prayer and even sign up to be a part of the GCFirst Prayer Team! No worries, all information entered goes straight to the inbox of our secretary.
"Ministries"- This opens another list and this list is all of the ministries we offer.
Global Outreach– Missions. We believe strongly in supporting those who are working to further the kingdom. You can read a list of local organizations we support and see a list of countries that host missionaries we support.
Women's Ministries– Read about how the ladies of GCFirst are working towards building relationships and spreading the word.
Forever Young- Well, this is a little embarassing…seems we need to update this page about the ministry we offer to the senior citizens in our community. Be patient and check back!
Club JC– Parents can learn what our children's ministry is all about right here! Even shares some tips for kids!
Project365– this page tells all about the youth ministry that we offer for students 7th-12th grades. Information for parents, students and includes links to interesting, friendly websites! Here, parents and students can also sign up to receive our P365 Newsletter.

"Leadership"- head over to this page on our site to read bio's for each member of our pastoral staff.

"Church Calendar"- stay current on the events of our church by keeping an eye on our calendar at any time from anywhere! You can view the calendar by day, week or month. Got a question about something on the calendar? Simply click on the event and a box will appear giving you all the details! Stay "in-the-know"!

"Church News"- this page just offers one more opportunity to view blog posts in a format that is little bit easier to navigate. You will see the blog title and a portion of the post. To view the entire post, simply click on the title.

That takes care of our website but we still have a couple of other means of communication via the world wide web. Have you heard anyone say something crazy, like "I read that tweet." or "I "Liked" that on facebook!"? These are social media sites for a means of mass communication and up to the minute information. If you are a part of the Twitter world or Facebook  frenzy, be sure to click on the links at the top of this newsletter and follow us! From our Facebook page you can sign up for our newsletters, visit our site and see our Tweets! Even Project365 has a Facebook page for parents and students.

We hope you are a little more comfortable with all that we have to offer through the internet. Go explore and let us know what you think!
