As I read through the Bible and listen to testimonies of others one thing always gets me and that is what happens when people take the first step.
In the church, we take the time to tell people about their need for a relationship with God, through His Son, Jesus but so often we fail in explaining what comes next.
We facilitate a group of people who are stuck in the shallow end of life swimming in an ever circling whirlpool of the same old, same old.
This became very aware to me over the past month or so as I watched some of the young people in our community post, well, junk on Facebook. And finally, enough is enough and God started speaking to my heart. The first thing I had to do was repent for not conveying the command of God better. The next thing I had/have to do is share the “what’s next” answer after choosing to follow Christ.
I found an answer in Acts 3. I am sure many who will read this know the story without even turning there in their Bibles. This is the story of the lame beggar who sat at the Gate Beautiful every single day in order to beg for money. You see, he had been crippled since birth…legs and feet that refused to function correctly led to the need for friends to carry him to the gates for his money. But God had something better in store. As Peter and John walked by, they met the man’s gaze and commanded him to stand. Peter took the man’s hand and pulled him up and as the man stood his ankles and legs grew in strength and he began to jump and run and then walked into the temple with Peter and John rejoicing!
So many times we are like this beggar. We sit on the floor asking God for handouts, for leftovers. All the while God is desiring to overflow us with all He is. If we would only stand!
Do you want change in your life? Do you need a breakthrough in a relationship? Do you need something big to happen with your finances? Is your family a mess?
You can and will see amazing things happen if you will allow the hand of God, that has never let go of your hand, pull you up, and you STAND.
So go ahead…STAND!!! I dare you. Stand and watch in amazement at the many wonders God will show you and through you.
