Students in Granite City are heading back to school this week. As they do, I pray that God sends His divine protection to surround them as they journey through the days ahead.
One challenge I give to students is this: Decide today that you WILL make a difference on your campus this year for Christ.
One way to do this is to become a Campus Missionary. “Campus Missions is a discipleship strategy involving five key disciplines that must be developed and applied in a Christian’s life in order for him or her to grow in a personal relationship with God, become more like Jesus and effectively reach others with the message of hope and eternal life through faith in Christ.”
The five commitments of a Campus Missionary are Pray, Live, Serve, Tell, and Give.
On Wednesday nights, at our Project365 service, we are taking a few weeks to study what these five commitments mean and how we can live them out. On Sunday mornings during Sunday School, we are studying what Salvation really is so that we can better live it out in our own lives and lead others to the same relationship with God.
Students who complete these two studies will be given the opportunity to participate in a commissioning service during our Sunday morning worship. During this service, students will be recognized by the church as Campus Missionaries, sent out and supported in prayer to create a culture on their campuses that points to Christ.
A challenge for adults: Support these students by encouraging them in the studies and praying that God opens doors of opportunity to share the gospel with others at school. Pray that God protects them and gives them a boldness to proclaim Jesus!
