At GCFirst on Sunday mornings you’ll find opportunities to connect with others and God through fellowship, worship and a life-giving message. We offer a comfortable and casual atmosphere for anyone and everyone to feel welcome. Come a little early and grab a cup of Eurasia Coffee and a donut or bagel from our cafe, First Cup. First time guests will receive a free cup of coffee! One Sunday evening a month we host what we believe is the most important meeting of the month–Worship and Prayer service. These services are typically the third Sunday evening of the month, however there are the occasional months we move it due to holidays. Please contact us for more info.
Our midweek gatherings happen primarily on Wednesday. The morning begins with our senior adults gather for a traditional time of worship and a message from Pastor Byron, the senior adult pastor. In the evening we all, kids, youth and adults, gather first in the sanctuary for worship and then we are dismissed for age appropriate study and discussion.
Music
Our worship is a blend of modern and traditional songs from hymns to contemporary worship. Our band includes piano, keyboard, drums, guitars and of course, voices! Songs that tell the truth of who God is and His greatness are what we sing.
Families
Obviously we are huge supporters of families so we do not mind a bit when they sit together in a service. However, we do believe that kids will love our children’s ministry and that everyone benefits from an age-appropriate teaching. We offer something for kids on Sundays from newborn through 6th grade, and on Wednesdays for K-6th. All of our workers have been cleared through a national background check and have completed the IL Mandated Reporter Training in order to do our best to keep kids safe.
What Should You Wear?
All we ask is that you have clothes on! At GCFirst, you’ll find people in everything from jeans to suits to dresses.
Do we talk about money?
Well, the simple answer is yes. If it’s your first time, we consider you a guest and don’t expect you to give. If GCFirst is your church home then you belong to the family and everyone does their part. We believe that giving to God and the church is the biblical thing to do as a part of the family.
